Boise Art Museum's permanent collection of 2000 works of art focuses on 20th century American art with a long-standing emphasis on artists of the Pacific Northwest, American Realism and ceramics.  BAM's Collection also includes a survey of European and non-Western artwork designed to provide a broader context for the overall Collection. The Permanent Collection is exhibited using four themes:  Elegance of Form, Artful Storytellers, Sense of Place, Ceremony of Spirit.  www.boiseartmuseum.org

On the site of an old penitentiary, the Idaho Botanical Garden has blossomed into 13 specialty gardens, each with a unique focus on Herb, Rose, Alpine, Contemporary English, Outlaw Field, Butterfly & Hummingbird, Iris, Meditation, Water, Cactus, Peony, Children, and Idaho Native Plants and the Dod Dick Outdoor Classroom. In winter, the garden is lighted by 100,000 sparkling lights.

The Discovery Center of Idaho offers interactive exhibits which illustrate the wonders of science. The Discovery Center is a laboratory for science discovery and fun. Visitors are actively and directly involved in scientific exploration; you DO something to learn the science behind the exhibit. Each station allows for hypothesizing, experimentation, and drawing conclusions. www.scidaho.org
