2004 Minivan Buyer's Guide
by Steve Siler

Kia Sedona
Kia Sedona minivan

The grandest of all Kias is the Sedona minivan. As you might expect of Kia, it delivers tons of stuff for relatively little dough, a winning recipe for many families on a budget. Sure, it's somewhat bland to look at, but what it offers in terms of features content is truly beautiful.

Now, when we say the Sedona offers tons of stuff, we mean it. The front-wheel-drive Sorento is a heavy gal, tipping the scales at nearly 4,700 pounds, making it the heaviest minivan on the market by more than 300 pounds. So don't look for great fuel economy here.

On the bright side, the under-$20K Sedona LX comes standard with power windows, locks and mirrors, a CD stereo, a split folding 3rd row seat, front and rear a/c and more. If you're willing to part with a couple grand more (which is where most other minivans start out), the Sedona EX will add power heated front seats, keyless entry, fog lights, alloy wheels and a cassette to that stereo. Leather, a moonroof and ABS are available as options. You really can't beat that kind of feature content for the money.

Powering the Sedona is a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 195 hp, hardly enough to move the Sedona with any real enthusiasm. But did we mention that it's covered by the longest warranty in minivandom? That's right, Kia's reputed 10-year/100K-mile warranty applies to the Sedona, too.
