Welcome to the 2008 International Car of the Year Awards (ICOTY). At the 12th annual ceremony held on January 12, 2008, the ICOTY jury presented the top 10 winning vehicles for the new model year. The exciting black-tie gala, coined the 'Academy Awards of Cars' by industry leaders was held at the brand new, state-of-the art MGM Grand Detroit. There, vehicles were honored in 10 different categories based on the emotional connection between car and consumer, and just how well automakers created that connection. Also presented at the event was the sixth annual Lifetime Legend Award.
The winners were selected by the ICOTY Awards Board, a group of nationally renowned automotive journalists, whose expertise are highly respected by automakers throughout the industry. [What are the ICOTY Awards?]
