2001 ICOTY Awards - Minivan
Most Compatible: Chrysler Town & Country

ROAD & TRAVEL's 2001 Most Compatible -- Chrysler Town & CountryWe’ve come to expect more from minivans than shuttle service for soccer parents. We want it all. And if you think about it, minivans as a whole have the most room inside for all those various assignments we may give to our vehicles. So why should we settle for seven seats, big windows and 44 oz. cupholders?

Truly, the Chrysler Town and Country is the pinnacle of all minivans. Others have tried to mimic it, by stacking out their products with TVs and leather seats, but the T&C was designed as a luxury minivan from the beginning. Among it myriad attribute, besides its obvious people-moving capabilities, are things like easy entry second row chairs, seats that fold flat to accommodate that proverbial 4x8 sheet of plywood (with the rear door closed, thank you) and three-zone climate controls to make sure everyone can find a comfortable temperature. In addition to hooks on the backs of not only the rear bench seat to keep large loads of grocery bags organized, there are hooks on backs of the front seats as well to hold purses or smaller loads as well. And we can’t forget to mention the dual power sliding door option that brings with it a power rear liftgate, the first we’ve ever seen on a minivan. Very cool, and very handy. And a luxury vehicle wouldn’t be a luxury vehicle if you couldn’t imagine showing up to the opera in it, and truthfully, this is the only minivan we would ever choose for the task. Oh, and did we mention it was powerful? It is, with the most powerful engines available in a minivan. What more could you ask for?
