Almost
80 years after Indiana's state motto was adopted, one can venture
to say that it still holds true -- Indiana is indeed the "The
Crossroads of America." The state's diversity can
be seen when one looks at the high-profile people who have hailed
from the Hoosier State -- brooding actor James Dean, journalist
Ernie Pyle, President Abraham Lincoln, talk show host David
Letterman and teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa, just to name
a few.
Indiana's
diversity is what makes it a great travel destination -- there's
so much to do in this Midwest state that visitors will never
be bored. The small town of Shipshewana, in the heart of Indiana's
Amish Country, has become one of the state's famous shopping
areas for people looking for good deals on homemade crafts,
quilts and furniture.
Business
travelers will most likely find themselves in Indianapolis,
which has an amazing convention center linked by covered walkways
to 2,800 hotel rooms at seven hotels, the Indianapolis Artsgarden
and numerous restaurants and shops. And travelers who like sporting
events absolutely love Indianapolis -- it's home to the infamous
Indianapolis 500, not to mention many other sporting events
and teams that'll keep the most avid fan cheering for days! |
