Anguilla's Crystal blue waters

A sleepy island in the Caribbean, Anguilla caters to those seeking a luxurious getaway, although there are places to stay and things to do that are relatively inexpensive. Most well-known for its powdery-white beaches and the turquoise-colored waters that surround it, Anguilla offers amazing views and gorgeous weather.

Although visitors cannot get a direct flight to Anguilla from U.S. airports, they can take a short plane ride to the island from Puerto Rico or neighboring St. Marten. The snorkeling and scuba diving in Anguilla is said to be some of the best in the world, so enjoy!

Historical Note:  The earliest inhabitants of Anguilla were Amerindians. Their tools, discovered on the northeast part of the island, date to 1300 BC. By the sixth century, large villages were occupied in what are now Rendezvous Bay and Sandy Ground.
