BMW M3 - The Ultimate Driving Machine

It's no secret that BMWs have been longtime favorites here at RTM (not to mention the rest of automotive press), and many of us consider the compact 3-series to embody best what BMW is all about: balance, luxury, connection with the road and sexiness, all in equal measure. No wonder that BMW hasn't changed its tagline, "The Ultimate Driving Machine," since a gallon of gas cost less than fifty cents and James Bond drove Aston Martins.

Still not satisfied, however, with the stellar 3-Series, BMW let its legendary M Division tinker with coupe and convertible 3-Series variants, resulting is some of the sexiest cars you can get for less than six figures. In fact, at less than $50K for the coupe, and about $55K for the convertible, the mighty M3 represents a bargain-if performance means anything to you, that is. With 333 horsepower flowing to its rear wheels, the M3 drives with the kind of immediacy usually found only on cars costing much, much more. What about brakes? How about handling? C'mon, this is the ultimate "Ultimate Driving Machine." Just hang on and stop asking silly questions.

Distinguishing the M3 from lesser Threes are flared fenders, a more aggressive front spoiler, metal-trimmed side air vents and truly huge 19-inch wheels. The interior gets upgraded seats, various feature upgrades and metal trim throughout. It's not a warm environment, but then, not all sexy people are warm. Rather, to sit in an M3 is a no-nonsense affair, no joking allowed. Heck, just one look at it and you can see that this car means business.

And after all, what's sexier than something (or someone) that really knows what it's doing?
