2002 ICOTY Awards - ECO Friendly
Most Likely to Change the World - Th!nk City

ROAD & TRAVEL's 2002 Most Likely to Change the World -- Th!nk CityE
very year, automotive manufacturers continue to create new ideas in alternative transportation. This year, we th!nk our Most Likely to Change the World category winner has to be Ford. Its creative new Th!nk City car is a smart way to help keep our metropolitan centers clean. The front-wheel-drive City features a top speed of 56 mph and comes standard with a driver-side airbag with seatbelt pretensioners, a radio/CD player, and a four- to six-hour charge time at 14 amps for an 80 percent charge. It wasn't designed to do the long haul from Los Angeles to New York. It's called the City for a reason. It's designed to fit in virtually any small parking space, seats two, features a 12-foot cargo capacity, comes with aluminum wheels, and other fun accessories to personalize it.

In addition, the Th!nk marketing features almost everything you need online, which shows Ford's ability to adapt to the future. We like the fact that Ford is not trying to solve the world's problems with this one vehicle, but is tackling the issues one at a time on a more personal level where it can make some positive impact on our society. The Th!nk City is just one of the products from this small, but important division of Ford. The Traveler and Fun electric bikes, along with the Neighbor transportation cart show Ford's commitment to this concept, and there is no other company this year who is more deserving of this award.
