2000 ICOTY Awards - SUV
Most Resourceful - Ford Excursion

ROAD & TRAVEL's 2000 Most Resourceful -- Ford ExcursionIn a way we’re sorry that Y2K didn’t destroy the universe; we had an Excursion lined up just in case chaos rendered civilization useless. This is the greatest getaway vehicle to hit the highway since the Bonnie and Clyde mobile. Big? You bet. The Excursion is 19-feet long, to be exact. Powerful? Of course! Choose from three engines: a Triton 5.4-liter V-8, the 6.8-liter V-10, or a Power Stroke 7.3-liter V-8 diesel. And yes, we know that size does really count, especially when you need to tow 10,000 pounds or stow all your gear inside. If you believe in the environment, the Excursion won’t let you down, as it is classified as a Low Emissions Vehicle. Heck, cows in the pasture create more exhaust than this beast, and they aren’t half as much fun to ride. For $34,135, seriously, what’s not to love?

Third Place: Chevy Suburban

Mercedes-Benz S-Class
