Jiffy Lube Raises Funds for Heart Health
In an effort to fight heart disease, Jiffy Lube has teamed up with the American Heart Association (AHA) through its Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, which aims to raise $1 million for the AHA. The Maintenance donation campaign, launched in February, runs through the end of March and looks to benefit the AHA’s Go Red for Women movement.

With heart disease as one of the leading causes of death in women, Jiffy Lube has promised to collect $3 donates from its customers in exchange for a Maintenance Partners for Life saving book containing heart-healthy recipes, lifestyle tips and $100 in saving on Jiffy Lube preventative maintenance services. All of the funds raised by the Jiffy Lube campaign will go directly to Go Red for Women to benefit the local communities in which the funds are raised.
Customers can also receive a Maintenance Partners for Life sweepstakes scratch ticket for a chance to win heart-healthy prizes, including a luxury SUV filled with healthy living products.
“We have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the fight against heart disease through the Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, and we’re proud that so many franchisees are helping give back to the communities where we serve customers,” said Luis Scoffone, president of Jiffy Lube International.
“We’re excited to partner with the American Heart Association to raise significant funds for their Go Red for Women campaign and to encourage heart disease prevention among millions of our customers. This is crucial because many people are unaware of the significant threats posed by heart disease,” Scoffone said.

According to the AHA, heart disease is the nation’s number one killer of women and men, with approximately 460,000 women dying from the disease year each. Additionally, an estimated 80 million Americans have one or more types of cardiovascular disease. Although heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United Stattes, only 21 percent of women view heart disease as their greatest health threat.
Comparatively, a recent vehicle inspection campaign by the Car Care Council reveals 88 percent of vehicles failed at least one part of the inspection process. Where medical check-ups help keep a heart healthy, preventive maintenance helps keep a vehicle “healthy” by optimizing its performance, value and longevity.
“We’re grateful to Jiffy Lube for partnering with us to fight against heart disease,” said Gary L. Ellis, American Heart Association chairman of the board,. “They’ve demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for the cause and it shows in the extensive participation by their service centers across the country.”

Jiffy Lube is challenging people to assess how well they care for their heart and their vehicles by taking the Go Red Heart CheckUp and Maintenance Partners for Life challenge. The American Heart Association’s Go Red Heart CheckUp is an online tool that helps consumers assess their 10-year risk for heart disease. Jiffy Lube offers the Maintenance Partners for Life Car CheckUp to help drivers assess how they are taking care of their vehicles. Both tools produce printable reports based on user responses.
Update: Jiffy Lube reaches their goal.
Jiffy Lube reached their goal of raising $1 mission for the AHA and presented Lyn Hughes from the American Heart Association with a $1 million check benefiting the Go Red for Women movement at the Jiffy Lube International 2008 Convention and Trade Show. More than 1,750 Jiffy Lube service centers participated in the Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, which raised awareness and funds for heart disease prevention.
"The generous support of our customers and the passion of our franchisees and their employees made it possible for us to present this check today to the American Heart Association," said Lisa Carlson, global director of marketing for Jiffy Lube International. "Together, we've succeeded in meeting our fundraising goal, and we're honored that we can contribute to important research and development toward wiping out this deadly disease."
In addition to the funds raised through the Maintenance Partners for Life savings books, which were given to customers in appreciation for a $3 donation to Go Red for Women, many service centers raised additional funds by hosting local events and visiting local businesses in their communities.
