If you’re searching for the hottest things to do and see, look no further. New York City’s New Museum of Contemporary Art – Set to open this fall, the first art museum below 14th Street to be constructed from the ground up post-9/11 will feature the gravity-defying modern design of Tokyo architects Sejima+Nishizawa.
Toronto’s Colborne Lane Restaurant – Expected to open this spring, Colborne Lane will feature the culinary creations of “mad scientist” chef, Claudio Aprile, whose cuisine experimentation at former restaurant Senses catapulted him to rock-star fame.
Mexico’s Rosewood Mayakoba – Slated to open on the Riviera Maya this fall, Rosewood Resort’s Mayakoba Resort will offer 128 suites and 32 villas built along a network of lagoons and “connected” by canopied skiffs – pure luxury among crystal clear seas. Need we say more?
Arizona’s Grand Canyon Skywalk – Opening for visitors at the end of March, this horseshoe-shaped, walkway is enclosed in glass and will offer guests the opportunity to perch themselves a whopping 4,000 feet above the canyon’s ground. (For comparison’s sake, the Empire State building stands 1,250 feet high.)
Shakespeare in Washington D.C. – A six-month tribute to literary genius Shakespeare takes the nation’s capital by storm at the Kennedy Center, offering over 100 presentations to celebrate the great works of “The Bard.” The celebration runs until June.
Las Vegas Springs Preserve – Opening in June, this 180-acre tribute to sustainability within the Las Vegas Valley desert oasis will include garden trails, galleries, concerts, classes and of course – good eats. Expect to be entertained. This is still Vegas, after all.
Washington’s Olympic Sculpture Park – Situated along downtown Seattle’s waterfront, this “green” canvas for art was once a nine-acre industrial site. Stroll along a 2,200 foot Z-shaped grassy path and soak up extraordinary views. Best of all, admission is free to all.
Cincinnati’s Creation Museum – This walk-through museum, slated to open it’s doors in June, will take a stab at evolutionary natural history with exhibits promoting the literal interpretation of the Bible’s Book of Genesis and the creation of the world – in six 24- hour days.
Kansas City, Missouri – Touting the tagline, “New Discoveries Daily,” Kansas City reinvents itself as a must-see American icon. This year will usher in the debut of the new Sprint sports arena (pictured above), college basketball hall of fame, an advertising museum and major expansion of the Nelson-Atkins Museum, as well as a nine-square-block project in the heart of downtown.
Dallas’ Victory Media Network – Opening in March, this digital-art gallery will be the first large-scale, outdoor exhibit of its kind. Incorporating 11 large, high-resolution LED screens on horizontal tracks, the gallery will feature high fidelity sound and lighting that truly immerses visitors.
Manchester International Festival – England hosts this inaugural and cutting-edge festival in summer 2007, featuring the world’s first international showcase of new and original credible pop culture, innovation and arts.
