Welcome to Las Vegas

Quickly becoming known as the playground capital of the world, Nevada has come a long way from the days of Meyer Lansky, but not far from his vision of what could have been.

Most famous, of course, is Las Vegas, which now hosts two of America's largest annual conventions. Not only has this party town become a home base for high stake rollers it has also reinvented itself to offer ideal business settings as well as family fun. Something for everyone!

For women business travelers, Las Vegas is ideal for a West Coast meeting that requires entertainment without having to fly into Los Angeles. It's especially compatible with those business travelers who enjoy the amazing beauty of desert paired with snow-covered mountains and seek an escape route after a long week of meetings. Vegas is as safe as they come for a big city, but like any big city, watch yourself at night and stay out of dark alleys. Otherwise, it's a great place for work and play.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is the official source for all things Vegas! Whether you're looking to play a few holes on one of the city's many gorgeous golf courses, relax the day away at a spa, play the slots and tables or just gawk at the immense casinos lining the Strip, be sure to check out their site before you go: www.lasvegas24hours.com.

Historical Note: Although the first settlement in Las Vegas was in 855 (the town was established in 1905), gambling wasn't legalized until 1931 and the first Vegas hotel/casino didn't open until 1941.
