The
unspoiled beaches of beautiful Kauai | Once
believed to be a honeymoon haven for the young or a playground for the rich Hawaii
has evolved into more of a melting pot of all things for all people. The
island of Oahu contains Honolulu, which is the largest city of the group. Loaded
with meeting halls, skyscrapers, a major airport, and plenty of night life, it's
Any City USA, save the palm trees and tropical breezes. From there, puddle jumpers
provide taxi service to and from each island. The Big Island of Hawaii is home
to Kona, known for being the "country side" of the islands, is less
inhabited due to hardened lava which covers one side of the island and a rain-soaked
Hilo, the other side of the island, which boasts the most rainfall anywhere in
the world each year. And, let's not forget the still-active volcano on the Big
Island. In spite of these minor inconveniences, there are numerous resorts and
convention centers. The most important thing to remember, however, is to not take
home any lava souvenirs because according to folklore, you won't live to regret
it.
If
leisure and all-out play is your goal then Maui is the island to visit, holding
true to its reputation, the playground for the rich.
