Some
of us remember when the only compact SUVs out there were the Jeep Wrangler and
the "beep-beep-hi!" Suzuki Samarai. But since then, the compact SUV
has caught on with more and more buyers, with more and more offerings from manufacturers
around the globe at the ready to satisfy them. Over
the years, of course, compact SUVs have grown up. In addition to ever-increasing
amounts of interior space, many now offer leather seats, moonroofs and state-of-the-art
sound systems- features that once were reserved for larger SUVs and luxury sedans.
Despite
their newfound maturity, one thing about compact SUVs that hasn't changed is their
collective status as some of the most nimble off-road vehicles in the world, thanks
to good ground clearance, short wheelbases, tight turning circles and modest exterior
dimensions. Now,
it's a well known fact that most SUV drivers will never their SUV off the beaten
path, but something that every compact SUV shopper can appreciate is value.With
the prices of new vehicles climbing ever higher, compact SUVs are becoming serious
considerations for families on a budget. And seriously, what family isn't on a
budget these days?
