LINCOLN NEW CAR MODEL GUIDE
The 2009 cluster of products by Lincoln from the Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford Motor Co. includes a new flagship sport touring sedan labeled MKS. Three repeating
nameplates also park on Lincoln's lot — MKZ, a mid-size luxury sedan, MKX, the car-like crossover utility vehicle (CUV), and Navigator, a luxurious super-size SUV.
MKS
Lincoln's new sport touring car looks classy in a bold design for the body, which focuses on vertical louver panels of a double-wing grille that's a modern homage to the classic 1941 Continental. It measures up for the mid-size class as a four-door sedan with a generous passenger compartment, large enough to carry five adult riders in luxurious comfort. MKS scores in the power department with a new twin-cam 3.7-liter aluminum V6 engine with VVT (variable valve timing) that links to a six-speed electronic automatic SelectShift transaxle with standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) or optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction.
Navigator
Lots of standard equipment goes into Lincoln's luxurious full-size SUV, such as a power liftgate, heated and cooled seats, Sirius satellite radio service, a THX II audio system and convenient PowerFold third-row seat. Navigator's vast cabin shows three tiers of seats including a third-row bench that tucks into the floor. And a stretched version — Navigator L — adds 25 cubic feet more cargo space. For firepower, a 5.4-liter V8 delivers 310 hp through a six-speed automatic. The AdvanceTrac anti-skid gizmo with Roll Stability Control (RSC) is aboard, along with curtain-style air bags, and AWD traction is available.
MKX
The luxurious Lincoln CUV presents a sporty pose for a wagon with high-tech equipment aboard and a fuel-efficient powertrain working with standard AWD traction. The 3.5-liter V6 makes 265 hp with a six-speed automatic shifter. MKX's cabin holds a pair of bucket seats up front and a back bench for three split 60/40 with folding seatback to expand the rear cargo area. The optional glass Vista Roof brings open-air motoring to a CUV. New MKX Limited Edition has a chrome grille and four exterior paint choices including Brilliant Silver and White Platinum Tri-Coat.
MKZ
The mid-size MKZ luxury sedan makes a dramatic statement of style. This Lincoln rolls on 17-inch machined aluminum wheels and comes with front-wheel-drive (FWD) traction or optional AWD. Decor for the five-seat cabin is understated with luxurious materials in soft leathers and real wood plus occasional bright glints of chrome. Powertrain is a 3.5-liter aluminum V6 engine, which delivers 263 hp through a six-speed automatic transaxle. A new Midnight Black package for 2009 lines the MKZ cabin in ebony perforated leather upholstery with accents in satin nickel and light-colored maple wood.
