2008 Vehicle Model Guide

2008 JAGUAR NEW CAR MODEL GUIDE

JaguarThe luxury coachmaker from Britain turns out sensuously styled sedans, coupes and convertibles outfitted with powerful engines, sophisticated safety systems and uxurious on-board amenities. 2008 Jaguar models include the elegant XJ series of full-size and stretched sedans, sporty XK mid-size coupes and convertibles, curvaceous S-Type mid-size sports sedans and the compact X-Type all-wheel-drive (AWD) sedan and wagon. This year's change points include the XKR Portfolio in limited numbers, the XJ's body styling revisions and a Satin Edition for S-Type.

2008 Jaguar XJXJ Series
Jaguar's full-size luxury sedans offer a standard wheelbase or five-inch wheelbase extension. The powertrains use Jaguar's 4.2-liter V8 with a six-speed electronic automatic transmission. The XJ8 packs the naturally-aspirated V8 worth 300 horsepower, while the XJR performance edition gets a supercharged boost to 400 horsepower. The long wheelbased XJ8L has a roof raiser and expanded rear seat section, as Vanden Plas shows lavish quarters for chauffeured rides. The Super V8 flagship is stretched and supercharged with performance equipment and premium appointments. The XJ shows fresh body styling with power vents and a spoiler on the tail.

2008 Jaguar XKXK Series
Jaguar's XK cars as coupes or convertibles have an aluminum structure and GT-style body. The design tucks a two-door, four-seat cockpit between a long prow and short tail. The vehicle's power stems from Jaguar's four-cam, 4.2-liter V8. The natural version makes 300 horsepower, but a supercharger version on the racy XKR hits 420 horsepower. The new XKR Portfolio limited edition rolls on 20-inch Cremona wheels and wears aluminum side vents with Celestial Black metallic paint. All XK models employ Jaguar's Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) for automatic shock damping, maximizing handling and driver control.

2008 Jaguar S-TypeS-Type Series
Jaguar's mid-size, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) sports sedans feature a unique prow with oval articulated headlamps flanking a bold center grille. The entry issue S-Type 3.0 employs a 3.0-liter V6 tuned to 235 horsepower with a six-speed automatic shifter, while the S-Type 4.2 stocks Jaguar's 4.2-liter V8 pumping 300 horsepower. The S-Type R — packing the supercharged V8 with low-profile tires tied to Brembo brakes — soars to 400 horsepower. A new Satin Edition for either the 3.0 or 4.2 S-Type shines with special body paint colors and cabin trims in Satin Mahogany veneers.

2008 Jaguar X-TypeX-Type Series
More standard equipment goes to Jaguar's 2008 compact cars, conformed as a four-door sports sedan or five-door touring wagon. The X-Type 3.0 sedan and X-Type 3.0 Sportwagon carry a computerized AWD device, which applies continuous power to all wheels. The engine is a dual-cam, 3.0-liter V6 delivering 227 horsepower through a five-speed automatic. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is aboard the models, and both the sedan and Sportwagon gain 10-way power controls for the front buckets. Additionally, the Sportwagon stocks a Reverse Park Control (RPC) aid. An optional Luxury Package can add chrome mirror caps, soft-grain leather seats and a burl walnut trim in burl.
