Nancy Martinelli of Grosse Ile, Mich., was at a meeting when her friends' seven-month-old baby began to cry. Not wanted to interrupt the meeting, the mother left the room with her baby but quickly ran back inside saying her baby was not breathing and she needed a phone to call 9-1-1. While other people began looking for a phone, Martinelli ran out to her 2005 Cadillac SRX to push the OnStar button.

OnStar Advisor Bolivar Caupusano answered the frantic call but before he contacted emergency services, Martinelli was told helped had been reached through a landline phone and an ambulance was on the way. Martinelli thanked Caupusano for his assistance and went to wait for the ambulance to arrive.

As she was walking away, she heard a voice calling her name from inside the SRX. Caupusano contacted emergency services to ensure they were on the way and learned the ambulance was having difficulty finding the location. Caupusano was calling back to Martinelli to see if she was at the same location as the baby so he could give the SRX location to the ambulance. Since she was with the baby, Caupusano gave the exact location of the vehicle to emergency services.

The baby's parents have since learned their baby had a food allergy reaction. Both they and Martinelli were impressed with OnStar and Caupusano.

"The OnStar advisor went beyond the call of duty by calling me back in my vehicle," said Martinelli.
