An
adventure of a lifetime awaits you on the Maple Leaf tall
ship. |
The
Maple Leaf, a 98-year-old tall ship, will set sail in June 2003
for the coastal fjords of Alaska, exploring the natural and cultural
grandeur of America's 49th state. The excursions are suitable
for novice sailors and combine natural and cultural history with
gourmet food and light cruising.
Trip
highlights include sailing the 92-foot, 5-sailed schooner among
Alaska's wilderness of fjords, islands, rivers and tidewater glaciers.
An intimate group of nine guests take time to go ashore on remote
islands, walk among the weather beaten totem poles of unoccupied
native village sites and experience the silence of the grand Alaskan
rain forests.
"The
hallmark of a Maple Leaf trip is spontaneity," says Kevin
Smith, captain of the ship. "If we happen across Orca whales
or a native storyteller we invariably take the time to enjoy the
experience--unplanned though they may be."
The
first tour departs from Prince Rupert, BC on June 6, 2003 and
arrives in Juneau, Alaska on June 17, 2003. The second tour departs
from Juneau, Alaska on June 20, 2003 and arrives in Prince Rupert,
BC on July 1, 2003.
