CRUISE
Carnival Cruises Debut "Serenity"
Carnival's Inspiration ship hits the seas this month after a dry-dock that made it the first in Carnival's fleet to offer the new, adult-only "Serenity" oasis. Tucked in a secluded aft of the ship and offering sweeping ocean views, "Serenity" is an area featuring plush chaise lounges, oversized umbrellas, two whirlpools and a complete bar with attentive waiters (AKA, a kid-free zone for grown ups to chill uninterrupted.)
Look for "Serenity" areas on all "Fantasy-Class" Carnival Cruise ships by 2009. Details at www.carnival.com.

The Real Black Dahlia Tour
October is the month for communing with the dead, and who among the dead is more anxious to speak than the victim of a famous, unsolved murder? On October 20, Esotouric, the eclectic collective whose offbeat bus tours expose LA's secret history, offers passengers a crash course in the complex and fascinating Elizabeth Short murder case, better known as The Black Dahlia.
On the Real Black Dahlia Crime Bus, Kim Cooper and Nathan Marsak give a guided tour to more than two dozen scenes from the real and imaginary history of the Black Dahlia case. Along the way, passengers explore the social history of postwar Los Angeles, several popular Dahlia theories will be debunked and a little known but likely suspect will be introduced. For more info, visit www.esotouric.com.
