JOQ Day Spa for Men - Look Better & Reduce Stress
We
all know that for men, stress is the #1 killer and
cause of serious illnesses. News reporters spend too
much time telling us what the bad habits are in our
lives, and not enough suggestions are being offered
on how we can improve our longevity. The old "diet
and exercise" plug is usually all you hear.
So
what can men do that is fun and good for them? Women
for years have been going to hair salons and day spas,
not just to look nice, but for relaxation as well.
Today, the #1 reason women go to day spas is to de-stress
and slow down the aging process. Unfortunately, day
spas have long been considered a woman's world and
most men don't feel comfortable going to them.
Men
have accepted the fact that stress must be controlled,
and don't want to die young from a heart attack or
stroke. They know that stress can affect their libido,
energy level, sleep, sense of well-being, skin and
hair, and the rate in which they age. Men are beginning
to head to spas for massages and rejuvenating treatments,
and now make up 30% of spa revenue in the United States.
In Europe, the revenue percentage is even higher.
In
September 2004, Atlanta saw it's first day spa open
that is devoted entirely to men. Women administer
the treatments, but men make up the clientele. JOQ
(pronounced "jock") is a 4,000 square foot
facility beautifully furnished with a masculine edge;
including waterfalls, marble floors, and dark mahogany
furniture.
The
spa menu is anything but traditional, consisting of
treatments such as the JOQ Athlete's Facial, The Spanish
Sage and Sea Algae Body Wrap, The Blackstrap Molasses
Pedicure, and The Mandarin Orange and Honey Manicure.
JOQ
is currently being featured in the E! Entertainment
Network show Hollywood & Divine: Beauty Secrets
Revealed. Two Atlanta Falcons can also be seen getting
their spa treatments at JOQ.
JOQ
was also featured on CNN's Weekend Housecalls in April.
The
overall response to a day spa that excludes women
has been overwhelming. "Women are actually our
best customers," says Andy Jones, JOQ Founder
and CEO. "They are so happy that they have a
better chance of getting their husband or boyfriend
in for some much needed spa treatments."
Men
are now realizing that they need to take better care
of themselves. Corporate execs, as well as athletes,
prefer to have well manicured hands, and razor bumps,
discoloration, folliculitis and ingrown hairs are
no longer just part of being a man. They can be prevented
with the right products and treatments.
Spa
treatments not only make you look better and reduce
stress, they can also slow down the aging process.
And now, men are getting their own places.
