Boxer Shorts and Black Socks Workout

Boxer Shorts and Black Socks Workout

Trying to stay fit on the road can be a challenge. Packing workout equipment and looking for a gym in a foreign city takes up precious space and time. But is all that necessary? Not according to Phil Black, a former Navy SEAL who recently invented the world's most portable full-body workout equipment. It's called "FitDeck," and travelers can fit everything they need for the regimen in their back pocket.

"Road warriors tell us they no longer bother packing sneakers, gym shorts or complicated fold-up equipment for their workouts," says Black. "With FitDeck, they flip on their hotel room TV, shuffle the deck, and go through 15-20 cards for a great full body workout."

Black came up with the idea of FitDeck as a student at Yale, but put it into practice as a Navy SEAL during his assignments in jungles and deserts. The workout requires no equipment, but relies on body-weight exercises, like push-ups and lunges. The 50 playing cards in the deck display exercises for different muscle groups, and each is to be practiced for one minute. And the cards have instructions for different levels of fitness.

"There's no better way to recover from a cramped airplane flight than to do some simple toning, stretching and strengthening exercises, no matter how in shape you are," says Black.

The FitDeck workout ensures travelers do not have to depend on hotel fitness centers, which may have limited hours, unfamiliar machines or broken equipment. The fitness card game also eliminates the need for remembering a complicated workout plan and lugging portable equipment like running shoes, inflatable dumbbells, pulleys or elastic bands.

"After a full day of meetings, conferences, or intense negotiations, the last thing you want to do when you get back to the hotel room is to try to figure out some kind of workout to do," says Black. "FitDeck is reliable, efficient and fast."
