US ROAD
& TRAVEL Magazine was founded in 1989 as a lifestyle publication specializing
in auto, travel, and safety topics aimed at the women's market. Today, venues
include an 8000 page online magazine, the International
Car of the Year Awards, speaking
engagements, media appearances, and a variety of strategic partnerships
within the auto and travel industries. RTM's
mission is to provide content and resources from which consumers can make informed
decisions when in-market for vehicle purchases, travel planning or products and
services that will keep them safe on the road.
RTM contains 40 departments; equally divided between its Automotive Channel and Travel
Channel. RTM does not pay to relocate candidates.

AUTOMOTIVE EDITOR/CONTENT MANAGER -
ROAD & TRAVEL Magazine seeks experienced content manager/auto
editor for large automotive and travel website aimed at the average consumer with
a slant towards women. Candidates should have 3-5 years experience as content
manager and writing/editing for search engine optimization.
Self-starting applicant
must be very organized and detail-oriented to meet deadlines for weekly magazine.
Work towards leadership role as managing editor. Candidates must become knowledgeable
with RTM demographic audience to provide accurate content.
Travel required
to attend industry functions and road test vehicles. Meeting and building relationships
with industry leaders required so must excel in written and oral communication
as well as personal presentation, therefore candidate must be outgoing and comfortable
in automotive environment.
Experience must include producing and writing
content for search engine optimization, content management including researching
new and original content, managing freelancers and in-house writers, managing
content for 18 automotive sections, road testing vehicles and writing reviews,
copy editing, skilled at driving a manual vehicle, scheduling weekly press vehicles,
have an interest in cars, and an excellent driving record.
Candidate will
work closely with editor in chief, as well as design and editorial staff, so working
knowledge of websites, content management system and SEO necessary for writing/editing
on web. These skills are unique to a website background and not found in print.
Must have understanding of how editorial and graphics function in search engine
environment to accomplish work and increase traffic.
Position is in-house
in Royal Oak, Michigan with option of starting on a contract basis, eventually
evolving into full time salary with benefits. Salary depends on skill level and
experience. Excellent potential for growth in position, salary, and industry prestige
for right candidate. Degree in journalism required.

SEARCH
ENGINE OPTIMIZATION SPECIALIST -
The
SEO Specialist's primary goal will be to create, test and continually improve
RTM SEO strategies and improve our organic search engine rankings in all major
international search engines. SEO specialist must be up to date on current SEO
trends and strategies. Search Engine Optimization experience a must.
Develop and manage both in and outbound linking strategy. Identify industry partners
and trends; nurture relationships to generate quality inbound links. Industry
partners could include reference sites, online magazines and Blogger websites.
Must create and manage ongoing SEO web standards including page title tags,
key word use, meta descriptions, internal linking structure and site maps as well
as coaching writers on how to write and edit for search engines.
Specialist
will be responsible for A/B testing and use site traffic analytics to suggest
modifications to better improve traffic.
