DETROIT, Mich. (November 12, 2003) -- ROAD & TRAVEL Magazine magazine today announced jury members for their 2004 Top 10 Annual Car of the Year Awards. J.D. Power and Associates will tabulate final ballots.

Twelve nationally renowned male and female automotive journalists will vote for 10 winning vehicles, reflecting a balanced perspective in the voting process.

Jury members for 2004 include: Denise McCluggage, columnist and senior-contributing editor for Auto Week; Bob Plunkett, syndicated automotive columnist; Ann Job, new car test driver for the Associated Press and MSN Autos; Warren Brown, auto editor, Washington Post; John McElroy, host of Autoline Detroit; Ken Gross, contributing editor for Robb Report; Steve Siler, RTM national online editor; Alex Law, contributing editor, Car & Driver; Kathy Jackson, reporter for Automotive News; Cheryl Jensen, automotive contributor to The New York Times and Chicago Tribune; BJ Killeen, president of Motor Mouth Productions; and Courtney Caldwell, RTM editor-in-chief.

The RTM Awards celebrate and reflect the emotional connection people have with their cars, much of which is related to their lifestyle or life stage at the time of purchase. RTM Awards represent how consumers feel about their cars - in fact, a recent survey stated that 84% of those surveyed feel affection or emotion for their cars.

Award categories are: Car of the Year, Luxury/Most Respected, Sports Car/Most Sex Appeal, Pickup/Most Athletic, SUV/Most Likely to Survive Anything, Entry Level/Most Spirited, Classic/Most Memorable, Crossover/Most Versatile, Minivan-Life Stage/Most Compatible, and Sedan/Most Dependable.

Winners will be revealed and automakers honored on January 3, 2004 at RTM's 8th annual awards show held at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Hotel. Sponsors include Detroit Marriott Renaissance Hotel, Bridgestone/Firestone, General Motors Corporation, Dolby Laboratories, Ford Motor Company, ArvinMeritor Inc., BMW North America, GMAC Financial Services, Kia Motors America, Mercedes-Benz USA, American Honda, Nissan North America, Subaru of America, Bose Corporation, Meguiars Inc., and Tower Automotive.

RTM targets upscale professional women, a body of consumers who account for more than 50% of all new vehicle purchases and 40% of all business travelers. Moreover, women influence 85% of all travel and automotive purchases, and spend more time online researching information from which they can make intelligent planning and purchasing decisions.
